Terms and conditions

This is a draft. The old terms were boilerplate from the agency that built the previous site. This version describes how things actually work at WCH, but everything marked [to be confirmed] has to be confirmed by the club first — it concerns money and notice periods, and those need to be right before anyone accepts them.

What these terms cover

These terms apply to everyone who trains at Weightlifting Club Hoorn: on a membership, on a ten-class card, on a drop-in class, or during a trial class.

Weightlifting Club Hoorn is based at De oude veiling 54, 1689 AC Zwaag, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce number [to be confirmed].

Membership

A membership entitles you to an agreed number of group classes per week — once, twice or three times — and to open training outside class hours, in consultation with the club.

Membership is billed every four weeks and continues until you cancel. The notice period is [to be confirmed]. You cancel by email or in person at the club.

  • A ten-class card entitles you to ten individual group classes and is valid for [to be confirmed].
  • A drop-in class is a single session without a membership or class card.
  • A trial class is free and can be taken once.

Payment

You receive an invoice from the club; payment is made [to be confirmed] within [to be confirmed] days. If payment is overdue, the club may suspend access to classes until the outstanding amount is paid.

Rates are listed on the programmes page. If a rate changes, the club gives at least [to be confirmed] notice.

Booking and cancelling

Places in a group class are limited: eight people fit, because the gym has four lifting platforms and two people share one platform.

If you cannot make it, cancel at least two hours before the class starts [to be confirmed], so someone else can take your place. If you neither cancel nor show up it costs you nothing extra, but the coach will see it.

Safety and health

Weightlifting involves heavy weights; training at WCH is at your own risk. Always follow the coach's instructions — those instructions exist for your safety and everyone else's.

If you have an injury, condition or limitation that matters for training, tell the coach before your first session. If you are unsure whether weightlifting is sensible for you, consult a doctor first.

House rules

The gym is shared space and the equipment belongs to the club. In short: leave the gym the way you would like to find it.

  • Train in shoes suitable for weightlifting that have not been worn outside.
  • Return barbells, plates and collars to their place after use.
  • Do not drop weights from height outside the platforms.
  • Photos and video in the gym: only of yourself, unless the others in frame agree.

Minors

For anyone under eighteen, a parent or guardian signs the membership and is the club's point of contact.

Liability

The club is not liable for damage to or loss of personal property in or around the gym, nor for injuries sustained while training, except in cases of intent or gross negligence on the club's part.

If you notice equipment is broken or unsafe, report it to the coach immediately rather than using it.

Changes and applicable law

The club may change these terms and will give notice beforehand. Dutch law applies to these terms.

If you have a complaint, bring it to the club first: call or email — in practice that resolves things fastest.
